Family Cake Smash Session at the Beach

This recent cake smash session at the beach was extra special for me. Not just because the little guy absolutely smashed his first birthday shoot (pun intended!), but because I’ve had the chance to photograph this beautiful family before he was even born.

We met up at the same location where we did a family session a couple of years ago, back when big sister was still the only baby in the family. Coming back to that same spot with the newest addition to the crew was such a full-circle moment. As a family photographer, there’s nothing quite like seeing the families you work with grow over time. It’s honestly one of the best parts of this job.

The session was a mix of family portraits, sweet sibling moments, and of course, the star of the show - the birthday boy diving into his cake with sandy little hands. His big sister was right there cheering him on (and sneaking a few bites too). The vibe was relaxed and playful, which is exactly how I love my family photo sessions to be.

These kinds of sessions are what make me love being a family photographer. There’s something so fun and genuine about letting kids just be themselves - especially during milestones like turning one! Whether it’s your baby’s first birthday, a family update, or just capturing everyday moments, I’m here for all of it and always excited to tell your story through photos.
